The UMKC School of Medicine understands the importance of visiting campus to determine whether or not UMKC and the School of Medicine can offer you the right experience for your college education. The School of Medicine offers several options to learn more about the B.A./M.D. Program.
Weekly Open Houses
The UMKC Welcome Center and the School of Medicine jointly offer weekly open houses. These sessions allow students to visit both UMKC campuses. (Volker Campus and Health Sciences Campus).
Click below to register:
Weekly Open Houses are held most Mondays and Fridays. Your visit will consist of a presentation and tour of the UMKC Volker Campus, where students spend the first two years of the B.A./M.D. program. Once your tour is complete on the Volker Campus, you will travel to the Health Sciences Campus for the p.m. information session to receive more specific information about the B.A./M.D. program and a tour of the School of Medicine.
Tours of the Volker campus are typically arranged directly preceding the visit to the School of Medicine. The School of Medicine session will last approximately 1.5 hours and can accommodate no more than 5 students and their guests, per day.
To schedule a weekly open house, please contact the UMKC Office of Admissions at 816-235-1111 or click here.
The School of Medicine will not provide weekly open houses on the days that the UMKC Welcome Center is closed or unable to provide visits.
Preview Night offers students an overview of UMKC and the B.A./M.D. program. Prospective students will have an opportunity to meet an admissions representative, as well as current students in the B.A./M.D. program. Preview Night will provide students with information regarding UMKC, the B.A./M.D. program, living in Kansas City, program resources, and the admissions and application process. This visit will also consist of a student led tour of the School of Medicine.
Future Preview Night dates to be announced.

Coffee Talks – St Louis
For students who may not be able to schedule a visit to the School of Medicine, or for those who would like additional information, we would like to offer the opportunity to learn more about the School of Medicine through our upcoming Coffee Talks. This is an opportunity to meet with a School of Medicine admissions representative and receive more specific information about the B.A./M.D. program. This is not a time to discuss a student’s application to the B.A./M.D. program, rather a time to ask more detailed questions about the B.A./M.D. program and becoming a part of our medical community.
Additional opportunities for fall 2016 to be announced.
For students who are unable to attend or participate in another School of Medicine event, we offer the opportunity for students to learn more about the School of Medicine by participating in a webinar. Students participating in the webinar will learn more about the B.A./M.D. program, and will have the opportunity to ask questions of the presenter. For an archived version of the October 2013 webinar, click here.
Additional webinar opportunities to be announced.
For students who are unable to attend a weekly information session, a campus visit day, or a prospective student reception, we would like to offer the opportunity to learn more about the School of Medicine through a Skype appointment. These appointments are NOT designed for students who have had the opportunity to visit campus or attend another School of Medicine event, but rather for students who are unable to take advantage of those opportunities but still want to learn more about what the School of Medicine has to offer. The School of Medicine Office of Admissions will be happy to honor requests for a Skype appointment from those students who have not already attended a School of Medicine event. Skype appointments are offered Monday – Friday.
To schedule a Skype appointment, please email the School of Medicine Office of Admissions at email@example.com. In your email, please include three possible dates and times. Someone from the School of Medicine Office of Admissions will confirm the appointment time as soon as possible.
For more information about our visit options, please contact the School of Medicine Office of Admissions at firstname.lastname@example.org or 816-235-1870.
