Prospective Student Receptions

Receptions are designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the B.A./M.D. program, School of Medicine resources, the application process/timeline, and the holistic admissions process.  While this session will provide an overview of the program and program structure, it is primarily designed to provide more in-depth information on the individual components of the application and the holistic review of applications. This program may serve as a supplement to a previous campus visit or information session, or as a first-look for students interested in the B.A./M.D. program.

Fall Prospective Student Reception dates to be announced.

Preview Nights

Preview Nights offer students an overview of UMKC and the B.A./M.D. program. Prospective students will have an opportunity to meet an admissions representative, as well as current students in the B.A./M.D. program. This visit option works well for guests who may not be able to attend a daytime campus visit. Preview Nights also provide students with information regarding UMKC, the B.A./M.D. program, living in Kansas City, program resources, and the admissions and application process. This visit will also consist of a student led tour of the School of Medicine.

Coffee Talks – St. Louis

For students who may not be able to schedule a visit to the School of Medicine, or for those who would like additional information, we would like to offer the opportunity to learn more about the School of Medicine through our upcoming Coffee Talks. This is an opportunity to meet with a School of Medicine admissions representative and receive more specific information about the B.A./M.D. program. This is not a time to discuss a student’s application to the B.A./M.D. program, rather a time to ask more detailed questions about the B.A./M.D. program and becoming a part of our medical community.

Future Coffee Talks to be announced.

Webinars

For students who are unable to attend or participate in another School of Medicine event, we offer the opportunity for students to learn more about the School of Medicine by participating in a webinar. Students participating in the webinar will learn more about the B.A./M.D. program, and will have the opportunity to ask questions of the presenter. For an archived version of the October 2013 webinar, click here.

Skype Appointments

For students who are unable to attend a freshman visit, a campus visit day, or a prospective student reception, we offer the opportunity to learn more about the School of Medicine through a Skype appointment. These appointments are NOT designed for students who have had the opportunity to visit campus or attend another School of Medicine event, but rather for students who are unable to take advantage of those opportunities and would like to learn more about what the School of Medicine has to offer. The School of Medicine Office of Admissions will be happy to honor requests for a Skype appointment from those students who have not already attended a School of Medicine event. Skype appointments are offered Monday – Friday.

To schedule a Skype appointment, please email the School of Medicine Office of Admissions at medicine@umkc.edu. In your email, please include three possible dates and times. Someone from the School of Medicine Office of Admissions will confirm the appointment time as soon as possible.
