Lisa Mallow joined the UMKC School of Medicine Office of Marketing and Communications in 2015. She has broad experience in marketing, public relations and communications gained through work in not-for-profit, public-sector, corporate and agency environments. Lisa is a life-long Kansas City-area resident and a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia’s School of Journalism.

Ann Aylward is a graduate of UMKC with a B.A. in psychology. She joined the School of Medicine in 1991 as an administrative associate in the Department of Evaluation and Computer Resources. In 2005, she moved to the School of Law as a systems support administrator returning to the SOM in 2007 as a web and database administrator.

John Carmody joined the UMKC School of Medicine Office of Marketing and Communications in July of 1992. Prior to joining the School, he worked as a photographer at Sun Publications in Overland Park, Kansas.
Carmody received his Bachelor of Arts in photojournalism from Western Kentucky University and a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education from UMKC.

Joe Cook joined the UMKC School of Medicine Office of Marketing and Communications in October 2012. He has more then a decade of experience in interactive web and graphic design. Prior to joining the School, Joe received a bachelor’s degree in commercial art from Missouri Western State University with a minor in general business management.

Edwards has been an editor at the School of Medicine since 1998. A graduate of the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, he previously spent more than 17 years working in radio and newspapers as a reporter and editor.

David Martin is a former newspaper reporter and editor. He worked in the communications office at the University of Kansas Medical Center prior to joining UMKC.

Joe Moran joined the School of Medicine in February, 2010. He is an award winning graphic designer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Denver.

John started at the SOM in 2006 and has worked for the University off and on since 1984. He’s had varied careers including food service, seminar presentation, network administration and grant writing. Aside from providing administrative support, he processes the billing for the department and schedules most of the rooms in the SOM. He doesn’t know everything, but he usually knows who does.

Bob Steckmest started employment with the UMKC School of Medicine in August of 1999 as supervisor of the Medical Photography Department. Provided professional images for Panorama, recruitment materials, brochures, websites and covered many School events. I have also taken photographs for numerous colleges in the UMKC system.

Before UMKC, Steckmest was employed as corporate photographer for the Nellcor Puritan Bennett Corporation, located in Overland Park, Kan., from 1988 to 1999.

His education experience includes a double major in commercial and industrial photography at Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo Iowa and photojournalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
