On behalf of the faculty, residents and fellows at UMKC, welcome to the UMKC School of Medicine Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program.
The Diagnostic Radiology Residency at UMKC is a progressive categorical program with an integrated clinical year. During the most recent review by the ACGME, UMKC received the exceptional honor of “Commendation”, being the only program reviewed during a six month span to receive this accolade. Because the ACGME allows programs in high standing to innovate, we have developed a curriculum in which residents rotate in radiology for 7 months of the PGY1 year. Also, in keeping with new American Board of Radiology (ABR) exam design, the curriculum is organized in a flexible manner allowing residents 12 or more electives in area(s) of interest. The ability to focus training early encourages pursuit of a radiology subspecialty, allows time for quality research and preparation for fellowship training.
At UMKC, we strive for a supportive educational environment where residents have the opportunity to develop a firm foundation in general diagnostic radiology, physics, professionalism, reporting/communication and business skills that will allow them to excel in academic or private practice. A multi-faceted mentoring system provides residents with scholarly guidance, as well as personal and professional support to help them aclimate to residency, achieve their individual professional, educational and academic goals.
Thank you for your interest in the UMKC Diagnostic Radiology Residency.
