Alumnus elected to American Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors

The American Academy of Family Physicians’ Congress of Delegates elected Michael L. Munger, M.D., F.A.A.F.P., ’83, to the AAFP Board of Directors.

Munger, who has been practicing family medicine in the Kansas City metropolitan area for 27 years, is the medical director of Saint Luke’s Medical Group in Overland Park, Kan. A member of the AAFP since 1986, Munger also serves on the Commission on Health of the Public and Science, and is serving his third year as the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates. He is also an active member of the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians.

Munger has also served the local community as spokesperson for the Clean Air Kansas City initiative and as a member of the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce’s Public Smoking Restriction task force. For nearly a decade, Munger also volunteered his time at the Kansas City Free Health Clinic.

Munger is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has the AAFP Degree of Fellow, an earned degree awarded to family physicians for distinguished service and continuing medical education.

As an AAFP board member, Munger will advocate on behalf of family physicians and patients to inspire positive change in the U.S. health care system. The AAFP represents 110,610 physicians and medical students nationwide.
