ARTICLE I
Title
This body is known as the House Staff Committee consisting of Officers and Senate Members of the School of Medicine, University of Missouri-Kansas City.
ARTICLE II
Objectives
The House Staff Committee has the following responsibilities:

Powers
Within areas of resident/fellow interests and concerns, the House Staff Committee provides recommendations for improvement to the Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education.
ARTICLE IV
Membership
Section 1. Eligibility. The House Staff Committee members may be elected or appointed from each of the UMKC sponsored residency and fellowship programs.
Section 2. Term of Membership. Members shall serve terms of one year. All House Staff Senate members may be re-elected or re-appointed for additional terms. The academic year defines the term of appointment. All Senate members and Officers of House Staff must remain in good standing in their residency/fellowship program to continue their membership on House Staff Committee. If a member is found to be ineligible for continued participation, the program will appoint an alternate Senate representative for the remainder of academic year. If the member is an officer, the Senate will hold a special election to fill the vacancy.
ARTICLE V
Officers:
President – Chair of the House Staff Committee, organizes meetings, represents House Staff at appropriate School of Medicine Council meetings and serves as the liaison between the Faculty and the House Staff.
Vice President – Assists House Staff Committee President with operational duties, assumes Chair of the House Staff Committee in the President’s absence, represents House Staff at School of Medicine Council Meetings as assigned and ensures House Staff issues are adequately addressed between House Staff Committee meetings.
Cabinet Members (2 elected members)– Collects and disseminates information regarding the House Staff Committee, establishes a web conduit for House Staff Committee communications, gathers reports from Senate members who serve on affiliated hospital and School of Medicine committees, ensures minutes reflect House Staff Committee activities and coordinates other marketing initiatives as deemed appropriate. Cabinet members include any former Presidents of House Staff Committee who are still House Staff members (in addition to the two elected Cabinet Members).
House Staff Senate – Composed of a resident/fellow representative from each UMKC sponsored program. Each Senate Member holds a House Staff Committee membership and is the liaison that represents one’s program regarding resident/fellow issues and concerns.
ARTICLE VI
Section 1. Quorum. At House Staff Committee meetings, a quorum shall consist of a majority of voting members. Voting members will be identified in House Staff Committee minutes.
Section 2. Meetings. The House Staff Committee will hold meetings at least quarterly or at the call of the Officers.
ARTICLE VII
Bylaws Amendments
Amendment to these Bylaws requires a quorum vote.
Article VIII
Dissemination of Minutes
Minutes are approved by the Associate Dean, Graduate Medical Education, and shared with the Graduate Medical Education Council for review and concurrence.
