To Request Video Services
  1. A TV work order will need to be completed. Depending on the type of service required, it may be best to meet with a TV staff person to discuss the project and how long it will take to complete it.
  2. The department can receive satellite broadcasts on C-Band only. These broadcasts can be routed to the theaters and other areas in the school. As much advance notice as possible is requested so Video Services can confirm the specifications of the satellite feed and coordinate other logistics with the originating feed. We are a receive only site, we cannot broadcast video back to the originating site. However, we can provide a speaker phone in the theaters for audio exchange.
  3. There may be a charge for equipment and services used for purposes other than undergraduate education. A staff member can provide more information.

Audio Visual

Primary responsibilities include:
  • maintaining/providing audiovisual equipment and supplies (projectors, computer/video projectors, VCRs, slide projectors)
  • providing technical staff support to operate equipment if required
  • locking/unlocking classrooms and theaters.
  • noon conference/grand rounds coordination

To Request Audiovisual Equipment or Support

Some audiovisual equipment is kept in the theaters. The classrooms are equipped only with blackboards and screens. All other equipment must be requested through the Audiovisual Department.

  1. Go to M2-411, and fill out a blue AV Work Order. An AV staff member will be happy to assist you. Fax work orders will be accepted.
  2. If you are planning to use computer projection we strongly encourage you to bring your presentation in at least two days in advance of your program to ensure compatibility with our existing equipment and software.
  3. Although we attempt to fill all requests, equipment is limited. We request a minimum of three days advance notice.
  4. There may be a charge for equipment used for purposes other than undergraduate education. An AV staff member can provide more information.
  5. Audiovisual can also help coordinate equipment and/or provide technician support for outside conferences or meetings. An AV staff member can provide more information.

Audiovisual Support

A/V equipment or assistance are available in the AV office (M2-311) or call 235-1831.

To have tables set up, contact Russell Friend (235-1816).

Food / Drink

Food or drink is prohibited in classrooms or theaters without written permission from the Dean’s Office. To obtain permission, call or write the Dean’s Office, c/o Executive Staff Assistant, 235-1803. Cleanup of trash/leftovers must be managed by the requesting party.

Identification

The UMKC School of Medicine requires appropriate identification to enter the building. The following policies apply:

  1. All residents, students, guests must show a picture ID when coming to the Medical School for any reason.
  2. If they are from our affiliate hospitals (Truman, Children’s, Saint Luke’s, etc.), their hospital ID with a picture on it will be accepted.
  3. If their hospital ID does not have a picture on it, they must show a driver’s license and sign the log sheet.
  4. If anyone comes without the necessary identification, the Educational/Program Coordinator may “vouch” for them, and allow them to sign in. If the Coordinator is not available, those persons cannot be admitted to the building.
  5. Guest speakers who are not School of Medicine faculty must show their driver’s license and sign the log upon their arrival at the medical school.
  6. Physicians, residents or students may not use visitor parking for any reason.
