Meet Julie Banderas
Biography
Julie Wright Banderas, PharmD, FCCP is an associate dean, professor, and chair for the Department of Graduate Health Professions at the UMKC School of Medicine. Julie earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, completed a clinical pharmacy residency at the Denver V.A. Medical Center, and a pharmacotherapy fellowship at UMKC School of Medicine. Teaching has remained a sustained focus throughout her career, as she participates in the education and training across a variety of graduate, post graduate and medical professional learners. She was a co-leader in the implementation of graduate degree programs at the School of Medicine. She has served as a primary and co-investigator for CDC, NLM, and NIMH funded projects in the areas of HIV prevention and treatment adherence. She currently mentors students and residents in the design and implementation of quality improvement work. She has maintained broad service involvement at the school and campus level. Her professional stewardship includes national leadership roles to advance clinical pharmacy and serve health professions program accreditation.
