Meet Lance Carter
Biography

Mr. Carter started his career in anesthesia by accepting a job as a certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) at Liberty Hospital in 2007.  Later that year he joined UMKC School of Medicine as assistant program director for the UMKC AA program. He became an Associate Professor in the Department of Graduate Health Professions and was the recipient of the Elmer F. Pierson Good Teaching Award in 2021.  He is a nationally recognized leader in AA education for his role in creating a series of popular anesthesia procedure videos with more than 4 million views.  He was subsequently published in the popular emergency medicine textbook, Roberts and Hedges’ Clinical Procedures in Emergency Medicine, 6th edition.  On a national level, Mr. Carter serves on the certification exam committee for the National Certifying Commission for Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).  He accepted the job as MSA program director in June 2022.

Outside of work, Lance’s life revolves around his wife and six children.  The Carter’s love sports, family movie nights, theater, working outside on their property, community service, and spending time with friends and loved ones.
