Biography
Dr. Chronwall was a researcher at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen, Germany and the National Institute of Health, Bethesda Maryland, before joining the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Biological Sciences in 1988.
Her federally funded research focused on the functional significance of isoforms of dopamine D2 and GABAB receptors. She has mentored a number of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in her laboratory. 2003-2009 she was Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs; her portfolio included oversight of UMKC’s program for undergraduate research (SEARCH) and faculty development. She joined the School of Medicine as a faculty member and Director of Academic Affairs for Year 1&2 in 2005. She coordinated courses, academic support sessions, and taught. She retired as Emerita in 2009, but continues to teach and work on UMKC related projects. Her interest in biology is reflected in her favorite pastimes: gardening and bird-watching.
