Meet George Gotto
Biography

George Gotto is trained as a medical anthropologist with an emphasis in cross-cultural perspectives on health and disability. Currently, he works throughout the state of Missouri to conduct community-based research and training projects related to health and wellness for people with disabilities. Dr. Gotto is the President of the Missouri chapter of the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. He is also a Fellow of the Society for Applied Anthropology. Over the past 17 years, Dr. Gotto has served as the principle investigator on multiple federal, state, and foundation grants and contracts focusing on health and disability in the United States and Mexico. Lastly, he has published peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, reports, and curricula in areas related to self-determination, community-based research methods, and health and wellness for people with disabilities.
