Meet Miranda Huffman
Biography
Miranda Huffman is originally from Ohio and attended the Northeastern Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) in Rootstown, Ohio, graduating in 2006. While attending NEOMED, she took a one year leave of absence to pursue a Masters in Education at Kent State University.
Dr. Huffman completed her family medicine residency at the University of Michigan. She spent two years practicing full-spectrum family medicine in the south Chicago suburbs prior to joining UMKC in 2010. She is very happy to now be in academics and has a passion for showing medical students the joys of family medicine.
She is happily married and the proud parent of two pugs. She enjoys cooking, yoga, and finding good deals on shoes.

Research Focus
Interprofessional education project to train medical student and physician assistant students to implement the T2 Curriculum to prevent type 2 diabetes in African-American churches.
Quality improvement study to address physician burnout and promote physician engagement using the StrengthsFinder assessment.
Analysis of diagnoses made by medical students before an after a curriculum intervention.
Use of standardized patients in education of medical students.
