President's message
The School of Medicine has just marked another milestone, Match Day 2018. Congratulations to all who are heading toward the next chapters in their medical careers, and who soon will join us as alumni. I certainly remember my Match Day! I was
anxious and excited, but also filled with a calmness of gratitude for making it to that special day. I was grateful for my many mentors at the UMKC School of Medicine, especially my docent, Dr. James Stanford. What a team effort over many years to make that
envelope in our hands on Match Day possible!
That day was just the start of another wonderful experience, three years in residency between Truman Medical Center and Saint Luke’s, which prepared me to fulfill my dream the following four years at Mayo Clinic. I credit my years at UMKC as “home base” and
will forever be grateful to that forming experience. I am proud to be among all of you supportive alumni and treasure the opportunities to support the current students, residents and fellows at UMKC!
Tracy L. Stevens, M.D. ’90
President, National Board of Alumni and Partners
