Dr. O’Dell appointed associate chief medical officer for Truman Medical Centers’ Lakewood campus

Michael O’Dell, M.D., chair of the School of Medicine and Truman Medical Centers Department of Community and Family Medicine, has been appointed the new associate chief medical officer for the TMC Lakewood campus.

Prior to coming to TMC and the School of Medicine, Dr. O’Dell served as chief quality officer at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss., as well the program director of the Family Medicine Residency Program. In addition to his medical training at the University of Kansas, he received a Masters in Hospital Administration from the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2005.

This completes part of a planned transition between Dr. Stephen Griffith and Dr. O’Dell. Dr. Griffith served in this role for the last 10 years and has done an excellent job. Dr. Griffith will continue to serve as a faculty member in the Department of Community and Family Medicine and will be dedicating additional time to a rural health initiative.
