The UMKC Dental Hygienists’ Alumni Association recognized former School of Medicine Dean Marjorie Sirridge, M.D., for her service and commitment to patient care and her humanitarian spirit during the Dental Hygiene Recognition Luncheon and Business Meeting on April 13 at the Westin Crown Center Hotel.

Sirridge, a professor emeritus who served as dean of the School of Medicine from 1997-1999, was honored with the Susan Brockmann-Bell Hunmanitarian Award by Gerry Barker, School of Dentistry professor emeritus. The Brockmann-Bell Award is presented to those who have demonstrated a humanitarian spirit through their commitment to improving the quality of life of their patients and, or their community.

The award was one of four special recognitions presented at the meeting. Karen Williams, Ph.D., professor and chair of Biomedical and Health Informatics at the School of Medicine, was the presenter of the 2012 Dental Hygiene Alumni Achievement Award to Trish Walters, RDH, MS. Before joining the School of Medicine, Williams served as director of the clinical research center at the School of Dentistry.
