Lab Coat Allowance

PG-1 residents receive two free lab coats. PG-2/3 residents receive an allowance to spend towards any purchase of clothing needed for work.

Scrubs

Two pairs of scrubs and one jacket provided by the department.

Temporary Licensure/BNDD

Fees are paid by institutions.

USMLE

Fees paid for USMLE/COMLEX III (must register during PGY1).

Parking

Free parking in a secure (badge required) garage connected to the hospital.

Food allowance

A monthly stipend for food is available with additional money for on-call periods.

*Stipend may be used for the purchase price of educational materials or education related travel.

Recreation Center

Reduced cost (approximately $120 per year) for fully equipped Swinney Recreation Center on UMKC main campus. Membership also applies to the Swinney Annex which is approximately two blocks from TMC and CMH. Residents may also utilize the TMC Ralph L. Smith Wellness Center for a nominal fee.
