Mission

In order to achieve our future, the faculty and members of the Department of Community and Family Medicine will:

  1. Develop and continuously enhance medical home services for the population of patients we serve
  2. Provide training to our learners that provides for clear understanding and engagement in the work of the discipline of family medicine while respecting and meeting the individual needs of learners
  3. Ask, define, and find answers to questions of importance in the work of family medicine practice and education while informing others of our findings

Objectives

  5. Provide additional training to selected trainees such that they achieve excellence in the care of pregnancy and delivery, care of the aged, and care of athletes. Those trained should develop excellence in life-long learning and be active in scholarship in their area of special interest. Where available, those provided this extra training should perform well in national testing for certificates of added qualifications.
  6. Support the professional community through; active involvement in the medical staff at University Health; provision of continuing medical education; active participation in local, regional, and national professional organizations.
  7. Engage in development and propagation of new knowledge in the profession through active scholarship and original research activities.
