Four chosen to receive Sarah Morrison Student Research Awards

Four students, including one in the School’s Master of Science in Bioiformatics program, have been selected by the Office of Research Administration for the October 2014 Sarah Morrison Student Research Awards.

The latest award recipients and their faculty mentors include Shilpa Babbar, M.D., MS Bioinformatics, mentored by Dev Maulik, M.D., Ph.D.; Halee Patel, MS 5, mentored by Michael Wacker, Ph.D.; Bob Song, MS 4, mentored by Peter Koulen, Ph.D.; and Siri Kommareddy, MS 4, mentored by Salvatore Stella, Ph.D.

The Sarah Morrison Awards are given to School of Medicine students twice a year. A total of $15,000 in research awards are given annually. The award helps students learn the value and application of research in the study of medicine. Students who receive the award are expected to present results of their research at the UMKC Student Research Summit and may be invited to present at other similar venues.
