About the Health Sciences Community Improvement District

The Health Sciences Community Improvement District (CID) was approved by KCMO City Council in February of 2022. The purpose of the CID is to provide funding for infrastructure improvements in the HSCID boundaries (22nd St. on the North, Campbell St. and Troost Ave. on the East, 25th Street on the South and Gillham Rd. and Locust St. on the West) and invest in residential healthy housing in the benefit district (22nd St. on the North, Brooklyn Ave. on the East, 27th St. on the South and Gillham Rd. on the West).

The mission of the Health Sciences CID is to encourage new commercial and residential development, rehabilitation of existing housing stock, rehabilitation of existing commercial structures, and construction or rehabilitation of public infrastructure. A portion of the economic activity taxes generated and collected within CID Area are used to fund this mission. The CID operates as a political subdivision by the state of Missouri by a board of directors comprised from unpaid volunteers.
