Karan Baucom, M.D., ’75, will be the featured speaker of the Dr. Reaner and Henry Shannon Lectureship in Minority Health at noon on Feb. 24 in Theater A of the School of Medicine. She will discuss disease prevention, wellness and women’s health issues. In 2001, Baucom created The Baucom Institute for Longevity & Life Enhancement, where she practices anti-aging and rejuvenating medicine to improve the quality of her patients’ lives as they age. Baucom is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, anti-aging and regenerative medicine and is also certified in Wilson Therapy Temperature Syndrome.
She and her twin sister, Sharon, were the first African-American graduates of the UMKC School of Medicine.
