The Internal Medicine – Pediatrics Residency at UMKC is a rigorous and dynamic combined residency. Founded in 1983, the residency now boasts well over 100 graduates in a variety of careers including, primary care, pediatric and adult fellowships and academic medicine. Our program is supported by two outstanding Pediatric and Internal Medicine residencies and three of the finest training institutions in the Midwest.
Our success is driven by our residents. Our program consists of 24 residents, or six per year. This size of residency has allowed us to match residents with a diversity of trainging, interests, and geographical distribution, while also creating a close knit group of residents. Our diversity has only enhanced the productivity and excitement of the residents here. Want to be involved in the community? The residents have started a community service organization in our clinic – Med Peds Cares.
The Med-Peds faculty at UMKC can only be described as remarkable. Each of our faculty is dual trained and actively involved with the residency. They staff our combined clinic, mentor our residents, and facilitate the Med-Peds clinic conference.
There are a number of exciting changes happening in our program, all of these in response to the success of our growth, the support of our core training programs and institutions and the excellence of our residents. So, if you’re looking for challenging, rigorous training in a supportive and collaborative environment – UMKC Med–Peds is the residency for you!
