The School of Medicine’s Office of Diversity and Community Partnerships is seeking nominations for its annual Excellence in Diversity and Health Equity in Medicine awards by Jan 30.
The honor recognizes an individual or organization for demonstrating a sustained and impactful contribution to diversity, inclusion, cultural competency or health equity.
Awards are given to a student or student organization and to faculty, staff, resident or organizations/department who have made contributions in the following areas:
• Recruiting and/or retaining a diverse student or faculty body
• Facilitating an inclusive environment for success of all
• Working to promote health equity and the elimination of health disparities
• Strengthening efforts to develop or implement cultural competency strategies that improve healthcare delivery
Anyone may nominate a candidate for the award. Self nominations are also acceptable. A diversity award selection committe will review all nomination materials and a final selection will be approved by the Dean based on the committe’s recommendation.
