Advanced Research Skills

The Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics at the UMKC School of Medicine offers an array of opportunities for faculty interested in advancing their research skills.

Master of Science in Bioinformatics with Clinical Research, Genomics, or Computational areas or emphasis. (36 credit hours with research thesis or capstone project)

Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research (15 credit hours); a valuable credential for health care professionals who want to advance their research career, but who are unable to devote the requisite time to a full master degree program.

The Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics participates in the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program at UMKC. Students interested in studies at the doctoral level in the co-discipline of Biomedical and Health Informatics, should apply to the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in the School of Graduate Studies. Detailed information on the general and discipline-specific admission requirements for the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. is found in the School of Graduate Studies section of this catalog, with specific details on the school’s Web site at
