
Jennifer Quaintance, Ph.D., interim director of the School of Medicine’s Office of Medical Education Support Services, has been appointed to the role of director. The position provides oversight for the School’s Office of Medical Education and Research (OMER), Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME), the Medical Education Media Center, and the Youngblood Medical Skills Laboratory.
Quaintance joined the School’s Office of Medical Education and Research in 2005 as an assistant professor and was appointed interim director of the restructured Office of Medical Education and Support Services last September following the retirement of long-time director of OMER, Louise Arnold, Ph.D.
As a faculty member with OMER, Quaintance has managed the OASIS student performance and evaluation system, conducted research in professionalism, mentored other faculty in research, been involved in faculty development focused on education, research and assessment, and been an instructor for the Health Professions Education certificate program.
She has served on the Faculty Council, Selection Council, LCME learning environment self-study sub-committee, teaching enhancement grants committee, and co-chaired the research sub-committee for the Selection Council. Quaintance also served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Sociology, where she taught introductory statistics and supervised undergraduate student research.
Quaintance is a graduate of Emporia State University in Kansas where she earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology. She received her doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Kansas.
Prior to coming to UMKC, Quaintance was a graduate research and teaching assistant at KU in the Department of Psychology and Research in Education.
