Research office opens online submissions for Student Research Summit

Student Research Summit LogoStudents from the School of Medicine will again join students from the Schools of Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biological Sciences, Engineering and Arts & Science at Pierson Hall on April 2 for the annual Health Sciences Student Research Summit. This is the fourth year with each of the schools participating in one venue on the Volker Campus.

School of Medicine students taking part in the research summit can now submit their abstracts through an online portal. Abstracts are limited to 350 words with no images and must be submitted to the School of Medicine’s Office of Research Administration through the online portal by Feb. 25. Faculty mentors must approve the abstracts prior to students submitting.

A School of Medicine poster template and complete poster guidelines are also available online through the Office of Research Administration.

The research office will contact participating students after Feb. 25 about poster presentation time and information on judging by SOM faculty. Practice sessions for poster presentations will also be available.

The School of Medicine sponsors individual awards for medical students and School of Medicine graduate students. Twenty-one medical students and six students from the School’s Master of Science in Bioninformatics program participated in last year’s research summit.
