Two students have been selected by the Office of Research Administration to receive Sarah Morrison Student Research Awards for April 2015.
Recipients for April are Gaurav Anand, MS 3, who will be mentored by Peter Koulen, Ph.D., professor of basic medical science and Felix and Carmen Sabates/Missouri Endowed Chair in Vision Research, and Dorothy Daniel, MS 3, mentored by Michael Waker, Ph.D., associate teaching professor of Basic Medical Science.
The Sarah Morrison Awards are given to School of Medicine students twice a year in April and October. A total of $15,000 in research awards are given annually. The award helps students learn the value and application of research in the study of medicine.
Students who receive the award are expected to present results of their research at the UMKC Student Research Summit and may be invited to present at other similar venues.
Students may apply for the awards by April 1 and Oct. 1 each year. For complete application information, visit the Office of Research Administration’s student research website at https://med.umkc.edu/ora/student_awards/.
