The annual UMKC School of Medicine Hospital Hill Run 5K drew a crowd of more than 1,500 participants to Crown Center on June 3 as a kickoff to the 2016 Hospital Hill Run 10K and half marathon races.

This was the third year in a row the 5K run has taken place on the Friday night before the 10K and half marathon races in order make the shorter run a more family-friendly event.
School of Medicine faculty, students and staff volunteers again served as support personnel for both days of the event, providing assistance at first aid stations located throughout the race routes and at the first aid tent. Sports medicine faculty and fellows provide medical services for the entire event.
Peter Ramundo of Manhattan, Kansas, won the overall event with a time of 17 minutes, 21 seconds. Siara Stahl of Smithville, Missouri, won the women’s race in 21:31.
