The School of Medicine chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society inducted 24 new members during its annual banquet on Thursday, May 8, at Diastole.
This year’s class of inductees includes 20 students — four junior members, two new senior members and 14 students members elected in 2013 — two residents/fellows and two alumni.
The AOA is a medical honor society that recognizes physicians and future physicians for both high educational achievements and teaching, and encourages the development of leadership skills in academic medicine and service to theicommunity while supporting the ideals of humanism and promoting service to others.
Jeff Glasheen, M.D., dicrector of the Institute for healthcare Quality Safety and Efficiency at the University of Colorado-Denver, presented the annual AOA lecture on May 9 in Theater A, speaking on creating a culture of patient safety.
