
The School of Medicine’s Missouri Delta Chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society conducted its annual induction ceremony on May 3 during a banquet at Diastole, welcoming a new class of students, residents, alumni and faculty into its ranks.
AOA recognizes high educational achievement and gifted teaching, while encouraging the development of leaders in academia and the community, supporting the ideals of humanism and promoting service to others.
School of Medicine Dean Betty M. Drees, M.D., F.A.C.P., spoke on professionalism in delivering the AOA lecture on May 4 in Theater A.
Those inducted into the AOA honor society included:
Junior members: Noor Abu Alnadi, MS 5; Adil Akthar, MS 5; Ramya Kollipara, MS 5; and Mariam Nawas, MS 5
Senior members: Sagar Amin, MS 6; Purvi Patel, MS 6
Residents/fellows: Asad Kabir, M.D.
Alumni: Wayne Cornblath, M.D., ’83, neuro-ophthalmology; and Latha Sivaprasad, M.D., ’99, quality and patient safety
Faculty: Brenda Rogers, M.D., ’90, assistant professor of medicine and associate dean for student services
Nine senior members selected in the Fall 2011 were also inducted during the AOA ceremony including: Ashley Abraham, MS 6; Fatima Ali, MS 6; Bradley Anderson, MS 6; Erin Burns, MS 6; Wesley Glick, MS 6; Kelsee Leisner, MS 6; Maleeha Mohiuddin, MS 6; Shilpa Parthasarathy, MS 6; and Christopher Smith, MS 6.
This year’s student officers are Heather Anderson, MS 6, Mani Javvaji, MS 6, Ben Wiele, MS 6, and Maggie Wessling, MS 6. John Foxworth, Pharm.D., professor of medicine and assistant dean for faculty development, and David Wooldridge, M.D., ’94, associate professor of medicine and program director for the internal medicine residency program, are the AOA faculty officers.
