Search committee formed to seek new Department of Pathology chairperson

The School of Medicine and Truman Medical Centers have formed a six-person search committee to begin the process of selecting a new academic and clinical chairperson for the Department of Pathology.

James Hamilton, M.D., Rex L. Diveley Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery, will serve as chair of the committee that will conduct its first meeting in the near future.

Appointed members of the search committee include:

— Berna Sue Casper, MBA, MT (ASCP), Truman Medical Centers, Inc.
— Daniel Dim, M.D., University Physicians Associates
— Lynda Donegan, R.N., Truman Medical Centers, Inc.
— Stefanie Ellison, M.D., University Physician Associates
— David Zwick, M.D., Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics

Kamani Lankachandra, M.D., has served as interim chair of the department for the past year. Russell Fiorella, M.D., stepped down as department chair in July 2010 after nearly 11 years in that role.
