

The School of Medicine welcomed the newest members into the Missouri Delta chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society during the organization’s annual banquet on May 8 at Diastole.
The society recognizes both high educational achievement and gifted teaching, and encourages the development of leaders in academia and the community, while supporting the ideals of humanism and promoting service to others.
This year’s junior members include Dean Merrill, Blake Montgomery, Setu Patel and Merrill Thomas. The new senior members are Bailey Hunkler and Tiffany Mao.
The chapter also recognized student members who were elected in 2014, including Fatimah Ahmed, Lisa Brown, Brandon Carney, Adnan Cheema, Kathryn Clarkston, Steven Curtis, Caroline Doo, Scott Helgeson, Megan Litzau, Nishika Muddasani, Asha Nookala, Nasreen Quadri, Erin Sieck, Senthil Sukumar, Andrew Thome and Benjamin Van Treek.
Two alumni members were inducted into the society, Christian Hinrichs, M.D. ’96, and Corey Iqbal, M.D. ’03, and Whit Holcomb, M.D., was this year’s faculty inductee. Resident/fellow inductees are Aref bin Abdulhak, M.D., Amita Desai, M.D., and Peter Winningham, M.D.
Eric Holmboe, senior vice president for milestone development and evaluation at the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, presented the annual AOA lecture, speaking on competency-based education to achieve better health system outcomes.
