Students from the UMKC School of Medicine and the Schools of Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry and Biological Sciences will take part in a joint UMKC Health Sciences Student Research Summit at a new venue for the second straight year. This year, the poster display session will take place 3-6 p.m. on April 4 at the UMKC Student Union.
Wayne Carter, president and CEO of the Kansas City Life Sciences Institute, will open the session when he speaks from 2-3 p.m. at the Student Union Theater.
Last year’s Health Sciences Research Summit poster presentations took place throughout the day at the UMKC’s three health science school buildings on Hospital Hill.
Students planning to participate in the 2013 research summit may submit research projects abstracts through an online portal (http://info.umkc.edu/hssrs/abstracts/add) until Feb. 8. Abstracts are limited to 350 words and must be approved by the student’s mentor prior to submission.
Following the submission of the research abstract, students will meet with a poster advisor and must submit a poster draft to the School of Medicine’s Office of Research Administration by Feb. 11.
Additional information about poster abstracts and a poster template are available on the School’s research website at www.med.umkc.edu/research/students.shtml.
