UMKC libraries offer electronic reserve service

A new service provided by the UMKC libraries will allow users to reserve online resources electronically through the University’s Blackboard course management system.

The system allows the library to provide links to online subscription resources such as articles, e-books and streaming audio, as well as uploaded PDF files from library materials such as selected book chapters or essays. PDF files from personal collections may also be loaded to the electronic reserve.

The library will create an “Electronic Library Reserves” folder in a user’s Blackboard course content area to store the materials and links. Blackboard will provide the necessary authentication so that no separate website or special passwords are needed.

Faculty are not required to actively use Blackboard for their courses in order to use the electronic reserve service.

Electronic reserve materials must meet the criteria listed at For more information on the electronic reserve service, contact the Health Sciences Library at 235-1880 or the Miller Nichols Library at 235-1526.
