Life Support Training (BLS and ACLS)


Basic Life Support

Format: Traditional and HeartCode blended
Instructor: UMKC EMS Education

BLS for Healthcare Providers is designed for persons who are responsible for providing CPR as part of their professional responsibilities. This course covers adult, child, and infant one and two rescuer CPR, and AED use.

Participants who complete the HeartCode™ BLS Part 1 online may perform the skills exam with an instructor during one of the scheduled skills testing sessions. The participant must print and bring a copy of the Part 1 certificate when they arrive for skills testing.

The AHA completion card is good for two years from the date of training. Both initial and renewal courses are offered, and courses may be cancelled if minimal enrollment numbers are not reached

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

Format: Traditional and HeartCode blended
Instructor: UMKC EMS Education

ACLS is designed for persons who are part of a team responsible for providing rapid response and resuscitation from cardiovascular emergencies and cardiac arrest as part of their professional responsibilities. This course covers team-based resuscitation techniques and management of cardiac arrest, cardiac dysrhythmias, acute coronary syndrome and stroke.

Participants who complete the HeartCode™ ACLS Part 1 online may perform the skills exam to complete the requirements for an ACLS completion card. The participant must print and bring a copy of the Part 1 certificate when they arrive for skills testing. Heartcode ACLS skills testing is conducted during regularly scheduled ACLS renewal classes, and a skills test fee applies.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support

PALS is designed for persons who are part of a team responsible for providing rapid response to emergencies in infants and children as part of their professional responsibilities. This course covers team-based resuscitation techniques and management of respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, and cardiac dysrhythmias.

Participants who complete the HeartCode™ PALS Part 1 online may perform the skills exam to complete the requirements for an PALS completion card. The participant must print and bring a copy of the Part 1 certificate when they arrive for skills testing.
