When I interviewed at UMKC I felt the residents were truly happy! had the opportunity to visit Kansas City many times while my sister was completing her residency; coming back here gave me a sense of familiarity. Kansas City provides best of both worlds; a big city with small town advantages; so much to see, do and experience but no crazy traffic ever! What are your interests? I like running, reading and traveling, trying out new cuisines and restaurants. Where do you live? I live in the Plaza area, it’s a great area with many restaurants, wide avenues and pretty fountains. |

I strongly feel that UMKC provides well rounded training in two different hospital settings. ![]() Why did you choose UMKC and what do you love about Kansas City? I chose UMKC because of the people, the strong training program, and the city. I could feel that residents were happy, very welcoming, intelligent, and down to earth. The program director, Dr. Wooldridge, was obviously very passionate about improving the program and cared very much about his residents as well as the applicants. Plus, working in two hospitals with diverse patient population makes the training at UMKC unique and strong. Also, I fell in love with Kansas City! I enjoy exploring local restaurants and coffee shops with my friends. I love the River Market area and the Plaza! What are your interests? ![]() Why did you choose UMKC and what do you love about Kansas City? I chose UMKC because both the Internal medicine program and Kansas City were simply too wonderful to leave. As a student I had 6 months of inpatient internal medicine, and immediately loved the docent system/multidisciplinary approach to rounding and learning. I had a baby in medical and always felt to supported both in my career and family life by faculty and staff; this has continued over the past two years as a resident physician. I also love the diversity in teaching offered by practicing medicine bath at TMC and SLH. What are your interests? I love to chase my two kiddos, spend time with family, travel, and be outdoors (boating, gardening, hiking, camping, beach going). Where do you live? Brookside. It is a fabulous neighborhood for young professionals and families. |

During medical school, I was fortunate enough to complete my internal medicine core rotation and internal medicine sub-internship at St. Luke’s Hospital, one of our two teaching hospitals. The faculty and residents were all approachable, kind, engaging and great teachers and role models.I love that Kansas City has all the amenities of a big city, but not a lot of the headaches. Kansas City is a very welcoming place with great food, great people, and sports teams that ACTUALLY win. How ‘bout those CHIEFS!? What are your interests? Ice hockey, baseball, football, cycling, skiing, martial arts (Tae Kwon Do), checking out new restaurants/bakeries, trivia, taking my dog for walks, sleeping in, and eating…a lot. Where do you live?
