Fall Semester Admission:
January 1: Application is Available
The application process involves two separate applications: The UMKC Application for International Student Admission (for international applicants only) or the UMKC General Application for Admission (U.S. citizens or permanent residents only).
April 1: Application Deadline
The UMKC Application for International Student Admission (for international applicants only) or the UMKC General Application for Admission (U.S. citizens or permanent residents only) is due by this date. All supporting documents must also be postmarked via mail or submitted online by this date (this includes transcripts, test scores, goal statement, resume/CV, and letters of recommendation). Applications that become complete late will be reviewed on a space-available basis, and incomplete applications will not be considered for admission.
Please review the list of co-discipline disciplines to check for application deadlines. All application materials must be received in the Graduate Studies Office by the earliest discipline deadline. (For example, if one discipline’s deadline is February 1 and the other is March 15, then application materials must be received by the February 1 deadline).
End of May: Offers of Admission are Extended
Applications for the Bioinformatics Primary Discipline are all reviewed following the final application deadline. Applicants offered admission will be emailed the admissions decision from the School of Medicine Office of Admissions. All decisions of the admissions committee are final.
August: Classes Begin
Students who have been offered admission for the fall semester and who have accepted the offer of admission will matriculate to the Interdisciplinary PhD Studies Program with the Bioinformatics Primary Discipline in August.
