Biography

In 2024, Dr. Nathaniel “Nate” R. Wise, M.D. joined the Department of Community and Family Medicine. Dr. Wise will be serving as a hospitalist at University Health Lakewood Medical Center. Prior to joining UHLMC, Dr. Wise was with Belton Regional Medical Center. From 2022-2023, Dr. Wise served as Locum Tenens Hospitalist for University of Iowa and Henry County Health Center, Iowa.

Dr. Wise enjoys hospital medicine because it allows him to engage in a broad scope of clinical practice, addressing a diverse range of acute conditions. The ability to perform timely interventions is particularly rewarding, as swift actions can significantly impact patient outcomes. I really enjoy performing procedures while utilizing ultrasound technology, which makes the process both fun and exciting.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Wise loves watching his little family grow, particularly cherishing every moment with his daughter as she energetically explores the world around her without fear. Dr. Wise enjoys discovering new places in Kansas City and indulging in the local culinary scene. Dr. Wise and his wife have a special fondness for cultural foods, especially sushi. Dr. Wise is also passionate about football and loves watching science fiction or fantasy television to relax.
