Biography
Dr. Tarantino earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine in Kansas City, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He graduated at the top of his class with the highest academic honors of summa cum laude. He completed his preliminary year at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City and his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He later completed an intensive Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology (Mohs) fellowship at DermSurgery Associates and Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Tarantino is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology for General Dermatology. He’s also board certified and fellowship trained by the American College of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Tarantino trained under Leonard Goldberg, MD, a second-generation dermatologic surgeon and trainee of Frederic Mohs, MD, who developed the Mohs surgical technique. Over the course of Dr. Tarantino’s Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship, he trained extensively in Mohs and reconstructive surgery, mastering the treatment of skin cancer, including Mohs for melanoma and facial reconstructive surgery. He’s the president-elect of the Kansas Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery and former president of the Kansas City Dermatology Society. Dr. Tarantino also serves as the Sporting KC soccer team dermatologist.Education and Training
