Biography

Ashim Mitra, PhD, is an international expert in ocular drug delivery systems and has made significant contributions in the area of ocular drug delivery, specifically for topical drugs (eyedrops). In addition, Dr. Mitra developed and patented a polymer — a substance of bonded ingredients— that allows for flexibility in the type of drug delivered through the polymer, and for how long it is delivered. By using the polymer, a health professional can treat many different ailments and set a time-delivery system in place in a less invasive and less painful manner.
