School of Medicine Scholarships

The School of Medicine offers a variety of scholarships to both new and current students. Descriptions of annual scholarship offerings and application details are below.

Incoming BA/MD students:

Awards in the amount of $5000 per semester for the first 5 subsequent semesters are offered to 15 students in each incoming class. The total value of the award is $25,000 and is primarily based on high financial need.

Students interested in applying for this scholarship need only to have a FAFSA on file by February 1 to be considered. Awardees will be notified of the award in their offer of admission into the School of Medicine.

Incoming Student Criteria Details

Scholarships offered by the School of Medicine to incoming students are awarded based on an evaluation of both merit and need. Because admission to the six-year combined degree program is competitive and merit is an essential component to the overall selection process, financial need is a greater factor in determining scholarship recipients.

The recipient must meet renewal criteria each semester to continue to receive the award through the end of Year 2.

Students interested in scholarships from the School of Medicine must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by February 1 of the year in which they apply to the program. If a student demonstrates need as determined by the FAFSA and is selected for admission to the UMKC School of Medicine BA/MD program, he/she will be automatically considered for scholarships. Students who do not complete a FAFSA or students who do not demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA will not be considered for scholarships.

Most scholarships are reserved for Missouri residents, with a smaller number of scholarships available to regional and out-of-state students.
