Biography

Dr. An-Lin Cheng earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Georgia and completed postdoctoral training in Biostatistics at Yale University. She joined the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2006 as an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing and Health Studies, where she collaborated with researchers across disciplines including dentistry, nursing, biomedical engineering, statistics, environmental sciences, and medicine. She also taught graduate-level statistics courses for nursing Ph.D. students and frequently chaired dissertation committees.

Dr. Cheng was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2012 and transitioned to the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI) in 2016. She achieved the title of Full Professor in 2019.

With extensive experience in managing large datasets and secondary data analysis. Dr. Cheng has contributed to more than 30 funded research projects and published over 120 peer-reviewed articles. At UMKC, she leads the Research and Statistical Consulting Service (RSCS), mentors students, and collaborates widely with researchers across the Health Sciences Campus.
