Biography
During residency and fellowship training, Dr. Mourad got involved in free clinics. He absolutely loved the culture and atmosphere of giving and patient centeredness. During his third year, he was privileged to receive the McGovern-Tracy Scholars Award for community service and leadership, presented to a select few University of Wisconsin medical students and residents each year. After graduating from his OB Fellowship in Chicago, he moved to Kansas City after marrying my wife, Sally who is from the area, and joined UMKC Family Medicine in 2008. In 2009, Dr. Mourad and his wife co-founded The Medina Clinic, a 501(c)(3) not for profit charitable clinic. An active core faculty member for the Family Medicine Residency and OB Fellowship, he eventually served as Associate Program Director for Women’s Health from 2014 to 2016. After joining Swope Health Services, the largest FQHC in the region, as their associate chief medical officer, Dr. Mourad remained with UMKC as a part-time faculty member. In 2018, he joined Health Partnership Clinic, an FQHC on the Kansas side of the metro as their chief medical officer. In 2022, Dr. Mourad moved into hospital administration by joining SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri, as their medical director for care coordination. Throughout all this time, he have cherished remaining a part of the UMKC Family Medicine family.
Dr. Mourad and his wife continue to oversee The Medina Clinic, which houses a Bridge to Residency (B2R) program for medical school graduates applying for residency. To date, the program has helped match approximately 60 residents, the majority of whom entered Family Medicine.
Dr. Mourad and his wife now have 2 active little boys, Adam (10 years old) and Zane (7 years old). They currently live in Overland Park, KS.
