Biography

In August 2024, Dr. Vijay K. Venkatesan joined the Department of Community and Family Medicine at University Health Lakewood Medical Center. Dr. Venkatesan is a primary care physician at the UH Lakewood Pavilion, Family Medicine Center, and also serves on Family Medicine Inpatient Services. Dr. Vekantesan is a Core Faculty for the Family Medicine Residency program and a member of the Clinical Competency Committee.

As family physicians, we can have an outsize impact on the health of our patients and community in addressing acute issues and managing chronic conditions. That impact and the associated challenge of continuing to improve our skills and stay up-to-date on new diagnostics and treatments are what continue to draw me to family medicine. Dr. Venkatesan is intrigued with applying advances in chronic disease management, particularly metabolic disease including diabetes and obesity. Dr. Venkatesan looks forward to reviewing ongoing published research to identify specific knowledge pearls that he can apply to his practice and share with colleagues and trainees.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Venkatesan enjoys spending time with his partner and their greyhound Chico. We enjoy playing pickleball, trying out new breweries and restaurants, and traveling together. Dr. Venkatesan is big into sports, particularly NBA, NFL, soccer, and tennis, and enjoy playing board games with friends.
