Biography
Dr. Siscos is a dual board-certified and fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon who specializes in Mohs and skin cancer surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery, laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology. He is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Castle Connolly Top Doctors®.
Dr. Siscos completed his surgical fellowship at UCLA where he trained in the most demanding surgical and cosmetic environments of Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Los Angeles. He has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and textbook chapters and is frequently invited to present at national and international dermatology meetings. Dr. Siscos has been recognized for his research and innovation in the field of dermatologic surgery and was a Scholar for the Advancing Innovation in Dermatology Initiative at Harvard Medical School.
A native of Overland Park, Dr. Siscos graduated at the top of his class with Honors from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society during his third year of medical school. He was the founder and director of a free dermatology clinic in downtown Kansas City where he coordinated the delivery of medical and surgical dermatologic healthcare to hundreds of uninsured patients and their families. During his fourth year of medical school, Dr. Siscos was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for donating immense amounts of time and energy to this free clinic and other charitable organizations in Kansas City.
Dr. Siscos then went on to complete his Medicine Internship and Dermatology Residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, where he was selected to serve as the Chief Resident. During residency, he received numerous accolades for his research including the Young Investigators Writing Competition Award from the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) for his research in utilizing Mohs surgery to treat melanoma. Additionally, he was among five residents in the country to receive the prestigious Vic Narurkar, MD Award from the ASDS for his dedication and passion for cosmetic dermatology. Upon graduation, Dr. Siscos received the Standard Award for Excellence for achieving the top overall score in his class on the American Board of Dermatology in-training exam.
Following residency, Dr. Siscos was selected for a rigorous surgical fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery, laser surgery, and cosmetic surgery at The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. This fellowship featured a full integration of plastic surgery, oculoplastic surgery, laser surgery and dermatologic surgery under many of the world’s leading and innovative plastic surgeons and dermatologic surgeons. He was also the primary Mohs surgeon at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Hospital where he was privileged to care for many of our nation’s Veterans and their families. Through this unique integration, Dr. Siscos is a well-rounded and innovative surgeon and is passionate about being at the forefront of Mohs and skin cancer surgery, reconstructive surgery, and aesthetic dermatology. Known for his personal touch, compassion, and patient-focused professionalism, he provides both skin health and aesthetics centered around an outstanding patient experience.
Outside of work, Dr. Siscos enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He enjoys traveling, Chiefs football games, running outdoors, resistance training and has recently taken up golf and tennis.
