Biography

Dr. Ruthstrom was born and raised in Downs, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University earning a B.S. in Biology. During college he worked for several years as a firefighter and emergency medical technician-intermediate. He attended medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine after which he completed his Emergency Medicine residency training at UMKC/Truman Medical Center where he served as chief resident. After residency, Dr. Ruthstrom has worked full time in a busy community hospital while remaining part time staff at Truman. He also serves as the Medical Director for the Olathe Fire Department as well as Deputy Medical Director for Johnson County Kansas EMS System. He is married to his wife Kristin and they have three young sons.
