Biography

Hugh is a graduated from the UMKC School of Medicine in 1994 and is a veteran of the TMC ED program from 1997, where he served as Chief Resident. He has practiced in our community since that time, starting with a staff position at St. Luke’s until he moved onto NKCH where he has been practicing since 2000. In 2008 Hugh took on an additional career path and began working for Cerner Corporation where he is currently the Chief Medical Officer for Population Health Programs where he leads the design of clinical decision support, content and programs. His work with Cerner differs significantly from the ‘real work’ of the ED, but he enjoys the challenges of trying to influence technology with clinical acumen. Hugh married Shana Booth (former TMC ED nurse) in 1997 and they currently reside in Lee’s Summit where they are raising two outstanding children: Adam, 14, and Anna, 12…and a new puppy, Bella. Hugh has been heavily engaged in community and youth activities from coaching to music as well as being a 5-time Ironman finisher.
