Biography

Melinda joined UMKC as an assistant teaching professor at the UMKC Master of Medical Science PA Program expansion to Columbia, Missouri. After 31 years as practicing as a PA clinically, she joined South University, Austin, as a faculty member, assistant didactic director, and admissions chair in 2023. She was previously an adjunct faulty member at several institutions, including the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Texas, and has been a Capstone facilitator for A.T. Still University's DMSc program in Mesa, Arizona since 2021

Melinda has worked clinically in Neurology, Pain Management, Oncology, Orthopedic Spine, Emergency Medicine, and Urgent Care.

Melinda is interested in the legislative and regulatory aspects of medicine and the PA profession. She served two terms on the AAPA Board as a director at large, chaired the AAPA Judicial Affairs Commission, and held an advisory position at the FDA for five years. She is a past president of TAPA, past chair of the TAPA Legislative Affairs Committee, and has been an AAPA House of Delegates representative from Texas for more than 20 years. Additionally, she served a 10-year appointment as Secretary of the Texas PA Regulatory Board. She continues to serve as a member of the AAPA Judicial Affairs Committee.
