Biography
Kerstin Stephens joined the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Physician Assistant Program full-time in 2023, following years of service as a guest lecturer and student preceptor since 2014, and as adjunct faculty from 2017 to 2019. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her Master of Health Sciences degree in 1999, Kerstin brings clinical experience in neurosurgery and internal medicine, with a specialization in endocrinology. Her dedication to patient care has been recognized through a health system PA Excellence Award in 2017 and as Department of Internal Medicine’s Outstanding APP Clinician in 2020.
Currently, she works clinically as a physician assistant for the University Health Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinic. She is certified as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.
Kerstin has a passion for medical missions and advocacy. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) and has served on the Kansas PA Association's board of directors. She has participated in four medical mission trips, providing care in Haiti and Malawi. In her free time, Kerstin enjoys family time, playing tennis, reading, and traveling.
