Biography
Dr. Howell was born and raised in Kansas City, and completed medical school and post-graduate training at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He has board certification in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine. His practice includes inpatient and outpatient consultation in a variety diseases including but not limited to: Asthma, Emphysema/COPD, Interstitial Lung Disease/Pulmonary Fibrosis, Lung Cancer, and shortness of breath. To help with academic interests, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) from the University of Kansas. He has made several presentations at the local, regional and national level on topics related to Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. His academic interests have lead to peer-reviewed publications as well the opportunity to be the Program Director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He served in this position for eight years prior to becoming Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education in 2020. Following this, he was appointed as Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education in 2021.
