Karin E. Olds, M.D.

Clinical Associate Professor

  • Saint Luke's Hospital

Biography

Karin Olds, M.D., is the stroke medical director for Saint Luke’s Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute. She oversees a team of stroke experts who treated more than 1,800 patients in 2015–that’s about one every five hours.

Dr. Olds knew she wanted to be a physician as far back as kindergarten. She actually began her healthcare career as a neuroscience nurse at Saint Luke’s back in 1993. She was part of one of the first ever “stroke units”–a nursing floor dedicated solely to the treatment of stroke patients.

She later went to medical school at the University of Kansas and completed her neurology residency at University of Alabama-Birmingham. She rejoined Saint Luke’s in 2006 and is board certified in vascular/stroke neurology. In addition to her work as stroke medical director, Dr. Olds also sees general neurology patients in clinic.

Outside of work, Dr. Olds enjoys time with her family, traveling, and gardening.
