Biography
Kirk A. McCullough, M.D. is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his Orthopaedic Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. After residency, Dr. McCullough completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder/Elbow Surgery at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC, serving as an assistant team physician for the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox Triple A affiliate), along with assisting in the care of UNC Charlotte and Davidson University athletes throughout the year.
In addition to his sports training, Dr. McCullough was provided the opportunity to work with Dr. Robert Anderson, world-renowned sports foot and ankle surgeon, and became involved with the NFL Foot/ Ankle Subcommittee. Following his sports fellowship, Dr. McCullough completed an Orthopaedic Foot/ Ankle fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, where he served as a sports foot/ankle consultant to the Cleveland area professional and collegiate sports teams, in addition to continuing his work with Dr. Anderson and the NFL. Dr. McCullough joined Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic of Kansas City, LLC, in late July 2014. His research interests include clinical outcome studies for sports-related knee and foot/ankle injuries. Clinical interests include the treatment of shoulder and elbow injuries, along with comprehensive treatment of knee and foot/ankle pathology. He is board eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an active faculty member with our sports medicine fellowship.
